What is Reiki?
Reiki is an energy healing technique that can help promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve the flow and balance of your energy to support healing. The practitioner acts as a channel for the universal life force known as ki or qi. Reiki practitioners focus on sensing energy blocks and moving the energy for the greatest good of the client.

Must I undress?
A Reiki session is performed with the client clothed; however, you may want to remove your socks, shoes, and/or outerwear so you feel more comfortable on the massage table or massage chair.

Where will my Reiki session take place?
Your in-person Reiki session will take place in my treatment room, a private, comfortable, quiet room located at 120 Aliso Dr SE
. Gentle music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a massage table or sit in a massage chair designed for your comfort. Your distance Reiki session will take place at a location of your choosing, hopefully, a location that is private and quiet.

Will I be covered during the session?
Since you will be fully clothed, you will not be covered during your session but the practitioner may offer a blanket for your warmth and comfort.

Will parts of my body be touched?
There is no massage or manipulation. The practitioner will gently place their hands on or just above your body on specific energy points. You may request a hands-off session. Reiki will flow as needed either way.

What does Reiki feel like?
Each person experiences Reiki differently. You may experience Reiki in the form of sensations such as hot, cold, tingling, or pulsing. Some may see colors or have thoughts or memories arise while others may have an emotional response. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort or have any questions.

What conditions can Reiki treat?
Reiki is a universal life force energy and can be successful in all types of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual healing.

What should I do during the Reiki session?
Before the session, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. You may be asked to remove jewelry and accessories. At the start of the session, the practitioner will ask that you set your intention for the session. During the session, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will gently move their hands over energy points on your body. Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when they need to move or release energy, if they need a blanket or pillow, or anything else relevant to the session. Some people fall asleep which is perfectly acceptable. If you have any questions at any time, feel free to ask.

How will I feel after the Reiki session?
Most people feel very relaxed; some people feel energized. You may feel tired after a session which is the body's natural healing response and should not be viewed as an adverse reaction. After the session, you may want to spend some time reflecting on your emotions, thoughts, and physical response to the Reiki session and take some time for reflection and self-care.

What are the benefits of Reiki?
Reiki can aid in healing by helping you become energetically balanced, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Reiki helps to promote relaxation, reduce stress, boost mood and sleep, and promote natural self-healing.

Are there any medical conditions that would make Reiki inadvisable?
No, Reiki is a noninvasive treatment and can do no harm. Reiki can be used alongside other types of medical and therapeutic treatments and may increase the efficacy of other treatments. A Reiki treatment should not be used as a substitute for the consultation of a physician or a psychotherapist.
